[Oct. 4th, 2006|09:20 pm] |
First of all, I would just like to thank ABC for taking hours from my life with a KICK ASS premiere of Lost (DO NOT MISS THE FIRST FIVE MINUTES...It blew me away!!!!) and for The Nine (which is pretty damn addictive already :)
Also, I would like to thank Aaron Sorkin for "Studio 60"...a little uneven (at least last episode), but still GOOD TV :) |

| stolen... |
[Aug. 19th, 2006|12:54 am] |
the following is stolen from Siobhan63 who "borrowed" it from www.oddthoughts.ca :)
I found this on Odd Thoughts' blog:
The British are really feeling the pinch in relation to recent bombings, and have again raised their security level, this time from “Miffed” to “Somewhat Annoyed.” Soon, though, security levels may be raised yet again to “Irritated” or even “A Little Bit Cross.” Londoners have not been “A Little Bit Cross” since the Blitz in 1940, when tea supplies very nearly ran out. Also, terrorists have been re-categorized from “Tiresome” to “Bloody Nuisance.” The last time the Brits issued a “Bloody Nuisance” warning level was when someone started the Great Fire of London in 1666.
Elsewhere in Europe, threats have not yet been so serious. Nevertheless the French Government announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level from “Hide” to “Run” (the only two higher levels in France are “Surrender” and “Collaborate.”). This rise was precipitated by a recent small fire that destroyed France’s white flag factory, effectively paralyzing the country’s military capability.
Italy is also on a heightened level of alert, and has increased its security level from “Shout Excitedly and Gesticulate” to “Start Elaborate Military Posturing.” Two more levels remain: “Ineffective Combat Operations” and “Change Sides Immediately.”
Meanwhile the Germans decided to increase their alert state straight from “Disdainful Arrogance” to “Dress in Uniform and Sing Marching Songs” (thus missing out the intermediate level of “Shouting Rudely at Foreigners”), a security status they seem to use whenever they can get an excuse. However they still have two higher levels: “Invade Poland”, and “Lose.”
Belgians, on the other hand, are all on vacation as usual, and the only threat they are worried about is NATO pulling out of Brussels. |

| just a quick update |
[Aug. 11th, 2006|04:07 pm] |

well, only *I* would ho on vacation and break myself...small fracture on my right elbow
The cover story is that I challenged my new Bro-in-law to an armwrestling match in order to determine whether or not his genetics were good enogh to enter the family...The REAL story is that a soccer game broke out at the new in-laws grill (can't call it a barbeque because it wasn't really :) and I took a bit of a spill (a rather spectacular one according to sis) snd broke my elbow :)
will update more about my trip and new family when I have two hands :) |

[May. 3rd, 2006|10:25 am] |
Just wanted to let you guys know (particularly Jorrah because she worries from time to time :) that I won't be able to check the internet and livejournal as much as I used to (although some might not notice :)
Lost my monitor this past weekend after seven years of faithful service, so while I have a computer, I have no monitor with no funds to get one in the immediate future, so I turned off my home net access and now have unlimited long distance (in the U.S. I think, not international) |

Start my defence in about 36 hours or so...
Talked to Dr. Culbert and gave me a quick sense of what to expect, but I tend to be a bit on the paranoid side anyway, so we'll see how it goes...
On a somewhat unrelated note, good luck on your exams tomorrow and wednesday Jackie...know you're going to do fine (heck, if you're organized enough to do outlines and that, you'll do more than fine :) |

| You Are a Peacemaker Soul | You strive to please others and compromise anyway you can. War or conflict bothers you, and you would do anything to keep the peace. You are a good mediator and a true negotiator. Sometimes you do too much, trying so hard to make people happy.
While you keep the peace, you tend to be secretly judgmental. You lose respect for people who don't like to both give and take. On the flip side, you've got a graet sense of humor and wit. You're always dimplomatic and able to give good advice.
Souls you are most compatible with: Warrior Soul, Hunter Soul and Visionary Soul |

- You burn more calories sleeping than you do watching Marc!
- Devoid of his cells and proteins, Marc has the same chemical makeup as sea water!
- You can tell if Marc has been hard-boiled by spinning him. If he stands up, he is hard-boiled!
- There are six towns named Marc in the United States.
- It's bad luck for a flag to touch Marc.
- In the 1600s, tobacco was frequently prescribed to treat headaches, bad breath and Marc.
- If you keep a goldfish in a dark room, it will eventually turn into Marc!
- Fish travel in schools, but whales travel in Marc.
- Every day in the UK, four people die putting Marc on!
- Long ago, the people of Nicaragua believed that if they threw Marc into a volcano it would stop erupting.

| I'm getting too old for this.... |
[Nov. 22nd, 2005|07:30 am] |
stuff :)
pulled my first all-nighter in a long long time...had plenty of sweet tea to get me through the night though :)
Chapter II is going to be handed in in approximately five or six hours or so, then I'll get a little bit of sleep and start work on Chapter III
Judging by a quick read-through though, I have a feeling Im going to have to edit large parts of the beginning section...
Note to self: don't forget to add section on Fuchs and atomic espionage and expand on Korea and edit the Hiss-Chambers stuff (that's the stuff I glossed over more than I may have needed too)
Anyways...night all :) |
